Point of Entry Screening
Acute Care, Personal Care Homes, Transitional Care Centres and our community services buildings all have restricted access. The following memo includes the most updated screening criteria.The following individuals should NOT visit any health care facilities. Those who have:
- Returned from travel, including travel within Canada, in the last 14 days, OR
- Had *exposure to a confirmed COVID-19 case within 14 days prior to onset of illness,
(Note: *Exposure may include scenarios or settings like: large events with confirmed
case(s) of COVID-19.) - Had close contact with someone being tested for COVID-19 at this time,
- Been instructed to self-isolate or self-monitor for 14 days,
- Cold or flu-like symptoms (cough, fever, runny nose, sore throat, weakness or
headache).
Directors of Health Services and Regional Program Directors must:
- Assign an individual for point of entry screening using the Point of Entry Screening Tool for anyone requesting access to the facility. Note: Point of entry screening is not applicable to staff given that other screening processes are in place.
- Assign a designated area for those who do not pass screening that present for services and direction is required
- Assign a designated screening lead for the screening area responsible for following-up with those that do not pass screening that present
Management of Home Visits
A revised document has been released regarding management of home visits and screening clients prior to entry into the home using the updated criteria. Regional Program Directors are to review and implement accordingly.
Child Care Concerns - Essential Services Worker Child Care Request Form
In follow-up to the Call to Action - March 20, 2020, the Province has released an online application form for essential workers to request child care services. Directors of Health Services and Regional Program Directors (or delegates) are to share this information with their essential service workers.
