The Boundary Trails Health Centre’s (BTHC) obstetrical team was recently awarded the moreOB Patient Safety Award, specifically recognizing the team’s outstanding efforts around the safe implementation of twin deliveries.
The ‘more’ in moreOB stands for Managing Obstetrical Risk Efficiently. It is a comprehensive patient safety and quality improvement program for interprofessional obstetrical teams. moreOB combines hands-on implementation support with an extensive body of current, evidence-based clinical knowledge content and leading concepts in patient safety and best practices in collaborative teamwork and communication. Essentially, the program standardizes communication for obstetrical care so that care providers speak the same language – both regionally and across the province.
“Patient safety is intrinsic to quality health care,” said Jane Curtis, Chief Executive Officer of Southern Health-Santé Sud (SH-SS). “This award recognizes this team’s ability to embrace a learning culture of continuous improvement, teamwork and innovation with the ultimate goal of providing the best possible health care for the safety of our patients. This award aligns with the region’s focus to continually enhance patient-centred experiences, achieving improved health outcomes for the long-term accessibility of safe, high quality care in the community.
”Salus Global, a recognized leader in the delivery of innovative solutions for building stronger interprofessional health care teams, presented the award to the BTHC obstetrical team on May 7.
“The engagement of Southern Health-Santé Sud’s interprofessional teams, including doctors, midwives, nurses and administrators, showcases their commitment to collective knowledge, skills and practices and their drive for continuous improvement. This contributes to an even stronger culture of quality and safety,” said Malcolm Eade, Salus Global, President and CEO. “The team at Salus Global congratulates the region and looks forward to partnering with SH-SS in support of the organization’s goals through the moreOB Program.”
