Staff Booster Session - I Don't Want to Talk About it!
COVID-19 has challenged health system workers to change how we conduct ourselves in the workplace, our homes and our social connections. These changes can sometimes feel overwhelming.
To support health system workers, Shared Health and our Psychological Health & Safety Committee partners have brought together skilled trainers from across the province to facilitate a number of Staff Booster Sessions.
The Staff Booster Sessions are short, timely, and relevant presentations designed to fit into busy schedules, topics will include stress management, self-care and dealing with uncertainty. Booster Sessions will be recorded and made available as a streaming video on demand.

Session Description:
Avoiding pain and distress is a natural instinct, but too much of a good thing has pitfalls. Health-care workers
who rely heavily on avoidance coping strategies tend to avoid thinking about bad things that have happened
and not talk about their feelings.
While avoidance behaviours provide an escape from unpleasant thoughts and instant relief from the pain of
difficult emotions, they come with a greater likelihood of stress injuries, depression, anxiety, and substance
use. By attending this webinar, viewers will understand how to recognize avoidance behaviours in
themselves and learn effective strategies to work through difficult and uncomfortable thoughts and emotions
Leads/Directors (or delegates) review and share the printable memo with staff.
