Universal Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) Implementation
Shared Health has released updated information on the implementation of Universal PPE within specific health care settings.
Of important note is that Universal PPE implementation within Southern Health-Santé Sud will be implemented within a phased approach involving a review of current inventory, projected needs, procurement from the Provincial Central Supply and scheduled distribution to health care settings.
Currently Universal PPE in Hospitals, Personal Care Homes and Transitional Care involves the Universal PPE implementation of eye protection and procedure masks only for providers involved in direct patient and resident care. The implementation of the use of gloves remains outstanding and is being planned.
Planning is in progress to implement Universal PPE in a phased approach, including and up to the implementation of all Universal PPE ( eye protection, masks and gloves) in all and other health care settings.
