Are you getting enough sleep? Getting a good night’s sleep is a habit that we often take for granted. Yet, it is one of the most important things that we need to remain healthy. Sleep keeps us functioning in our waking life, no matter our age.
While we sleep, our bodies are refilled with energy, damaged tissue is repaired and memories are restored. Often when we don’t sleep enough, it becomes obvious why it is so essential.
There are many ways to get a good night’s sleep. For example:
Develop a routine rest and sleep schedule. It’s a good idea to go to bed and to get up at approximately the same time everyday;
Exercise on a regular basis; even a little can make a big difference;
Avoid or reduce certain habits that may be hindering your quality of sleep; reducing caffeine, nicotine and alcohol is a great start.
These and many more ideas can be discovered through the Get Better Together Program available in your community. For more information, please contact your health care provider.
