About the Virtual Sessions

These courses are identical to those which are taught at the sites by Advanced Wound Care Clinicians.

Level 2 Adult Pressure Injuries (register for one date)

The course will provide the clinician with the skills to prevent Pressure Injuries, and when they occur to accurately stage and treat Stages 1-4 Pressure Injuries, Unstageable Pressure Injuries and Deep Tissue Pressure Injuries using the Wound Bed Preparation Paradigm. A short quiz will be distributed after the course and a passing mark of 85% is required to receive a certificate.

Prerequisites (preferred): Wound Care Education Level 1

Level 2 Diabetic Foot Ulcers (register for one date)

The course provides the skills to integrate the framework of the Wound Bed Preparation Paradigm in the assessment and treatment of diabetic foot ulcers. There will be a review of diagnostics and assessment essential to managing and treating diabetic foot ulcers, including referral for foot care and offloading. Participants will be introduced to the 60 Second Foot Screen. A short quiz will be distributed by e-mail after the course and a passing mark of 85% is required to receive a certificate.

Level 2 Venous, Arterial, & Mixed Lower Leg Ulcers Part 1 (register for one date)

The course provides the clinician with the skills to identify the types and etiologies of leg ulcers using a Lower Leg Assessment, and to initiate Elasticized Tubular Compression in the absence of arterial disease. The Wound Bed Preparation Paradigm, will be integrated into the review of diagnostics and investigations essential to treating leg ulcers, including wound dressing options.

NOTE: Certification in Level 2 Venous, Arterial, & Mixed Lower Leg Ulcers will occur when clinician has completed return demonstration in a subsequent 2-hour course which will be scheduled on completion of the Level 2 course.

Who can attend?

  • Open to all staff in the region.

Notes to Participants

  • Participants will need access to a computer with speakers and a microphone in order to participate virtually.
