Feb 13, 2025 1:00PM — 5:00PM
Location
Portage District General Hospital - Classroom
Portage la Prairie, MB
About the Program
This Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) will provide instruction to enhance your knowledge and the skills on the use of resuscitation equipment and manikins through simulated situations for practice. The 8th edition NRP officially launched February 2022 therefore staff will need the new 8th edition textbook and to complete the new 8th edition online pre-course exam.
The online pre-course examination must be completed and passed prior to NRP Skills and Simulation testing with a registered instructor otherwise participants cannot attend.
Who Should Attend?
The NRP provider course is designed for health care professionals involved in any aspect of neonatal resuscitation. This includes physicians, nurses, advanced practice nurses, nurse midwives, licensed midwifes, respiratory care practitioners and other health care professionals who provide direct care during neonatal resuscitation.
Process
- The 8th edition exam has a new format:
- Part 1: Essentials (Lessons 1-4) uses an adaptive learning format which adapts the learning experience to each individual learner.
- Part 2: Advanced (Lessons 5-11) uses the standard MCQ format.
- The online exam must be passed at least 1 week prior to the practical session or the student cannot attend. Please keep this copy for your records. This examination verification will expire 30 days after you have completed your examination.
- You must present this certificate to your NRP instructor in order to participate in NRP Skills and Simulation testing.
There must be a minimum of 2 people registered for each session for the course to run.
Maximum per session is 4 participants.
Participants must come to the course prepared for their practical exam.
Note to Participants
The online copy of the exam certificate is not an NRP Course Completion Certificate. To obtain an NRP Provider Card an individual must successfully complete the NRP Cognitive Evaluation and successfully participate in skills and simulation review and testing under the guidance of an NRP instructor.
The participant will receive an email after the course is completed. The email is from the Canadian Pediatric Society (CPS) and contains a link allowing the participant to print their card or save it as a PDF. The Region does not have access to your cards, so please watch for the email so that you can print and save for your education record.
